Joseph M. Behson
First Vice President
Joseph M. Behson is a private consultant providing services in the areas of media literacy, character education and program development, especially for high-risk youth populations. He is the former Director of Counseling Services for the New York State Office of Children and Family Services and the Director of Life Skills Development and Independent Living Services for Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth (ret.). He is the author of a comprehensive media literacy curriculum that has been presented to over 12,000 juvenile offenders and at risk youth in New York State. He provides media education training and program development assistance to school systems, prevention and correctional organizations across the country. In addition to being a founding board member and officer of AMLA, he is a member of the Juvenile Justice Trainers Association, the American Correctional Association and serves on the Board of Directors of the NY State Corrections and Youth Services Association. Behson holds a B.A. from Marist College and an M.A. from New York University.
