8 Ways to make the most of your NAMLE membership

1.  Let's get acquainted
The NAMLE website is a constantly expanding resource full of vital information, stimulating ideas and practical help. We invite you to take more than a few minutes to follow the links on this page to learn more about the organization, its history and a growing number of activities to advance the field.

Send in news of what you're doing to our UPDATE newsletter. It is through communication and participation that we can build the bonds that create a strong and vibrant organization.

2.  Read
Be inspired by NAMLE's Founding Declaration and the history of the organization. Review the Core Principles of Media Literacy Education and add your comments to the discussion board.

3.  Shop
Visit the NAMLE Marketplace for the latest in curriculum resources, professional books, videos and DVD's and much more. And remember - NAMLE members receive a 5% discount on all purchases and FREE shipping with orders over $50.

4.  Vote
Check out how NAMLE is governed and who's on the Board of Directors and the National Advisory Council. Read the By-laws and review the policies by which we operate. And don't forget to VOTE in the elections each spring.

5.  Network
Share your interests, opinions and news of your work in media literacy through Flash! our online bulletin board and the NAMLE Update, our monthly e-mail newsletter. (Only active members can submit items for either one.) Investigate joining a caucus – or organize one yourself by inviting others to meet formally or informally and build on your common interests.

6.  Get Involved
Find out what NAMLE's committees do and take the Member Skills Survey to determine what talents you have that could contribute to advancing media literacy in the US. Your volunteer service on an NAMLE committee is greatly appreciated, enhances your professional resume, makes a contribution to the field - and is fun, too!

7.  Calendar
Plan to attend the 2011 National Media Education Conference in Philadelphia, PA. We look forward to featuring the strong media literacy community in Philadelphia. Watch this site for all the details as they become available.

8. Spread the word
Share NAMLE's website with your professional colleagues and invite them to join you as a member of the primary professional organization for media literacy education in the U.S. Look at the list of promotional activities and choose at least one thing YOU could do.

Thank you again for joining NAMLE!
